RevArt is delighted to announce Energiescape, a solo exhibition by local Toronto artist Claudette Losier, on view from August 28th to October 5th, 2024. We invite you to join us for the opening reception on Wednesday, August 28th, from 5 to 8 pm ET.
Claudette Losiers work captivates with the flow and energy pulsating through her art. In her vision, the city is far from static; it moves, sings, and flickers with life. Her pieces capture the dynamic energy and indomitable spirit of this vibrant city. The Energiescape exhibition invites us into Claudettes world, where the urban landscape is alive and buzzing. Her art evokes a sense of unease yet leaves us strangely energized. This duality is the power of her creations, reinvigorating viewers and infusing them with a renewed zest for daily life. As you explore Energiescape, may you find yourself drawn into the rhythm of the city and emerge revitalized, carrying a piece of that energy with you.
As Albert Einstein once said, Energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be changed from one form to another. Claudette Losiers work is a testament to this, transforming the static into the dynamic and the ordinary into the extraordinary.
Claudette Losier graduated in 1989 with a Fine Arts degree from Brock University. Since then, she has had numerous solo and group shows in Ontario, Buffalo, Santa Monica, Palermo, and Florence in Italy, and Berlin, Germany. Claudette has won four best-in-show awards, awards of merit, and honorable mentions, including the Gerald Gunther Humanity Award and the City of Toronto Purchase Award for her CinderPoppy transfer painting. Her other renowned collectors include the Ontario Government, the Toronto Resource Library, and the Hamilton Superior Court House.
Claudette has a deep need to create and feel a connection with the creative spirit and beauty. In 2012, she challenged herself with night paintings, using the citys nightlife and later its daytime as her model. She paints the urban city scene like a garden full of delicious colors, shapes, and energy, abstracting the inner and outer reality to reveal reflections of nature and memory, evoking a sense of place with a dreamscape quality. Claudette calls her style Abstract Surreal Impressionism. Her paintings are rooted in the physical world but are transformed through the process of layering until forms emerge from the boundary where light meets dark, indicative of their underlying essence of energy. This gives her work a dreamscape quality that can change at any given moment, much like life itself, always in the process of change, finding order in disorder.
