The lush, fertile soils of Mityana are about to witness the birth of a revolutionary project that combines traditional farming methods with modern regenerative and sustainable practices. We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Organic Yellow York farm, a project initiative that aims to raise £89,500 to establish a local indigenous chicken farm in the heart of Uganda. This farm is not just about raising chickens; it's about raising hope, health, and a brighter future for our community.
Why Support Organic Yellow York Farm?
Empowering Communities: At its core, Organic Yellow York Farm is about creating jobs and providing sustainable livelihoods for local residents, especially single and stay-at-home mothers. By contributing to this project, you are helping to uplift an entire community, giving them the tools and training they need to learn a new skill and gain employment at the same time.
Preserving Local Breeds and Promoting Health: Our farm will focus on raising indigenous chicken breeds, known for their delicious, healthy, and nourishing eggs and meat. By choosing to support us, you are helping to preserve these breeds while promoting a natural and healthier way of life through organic farming practices.
Sustainable and Regenerative Farming: We are committed to using only organic and regenerative methods to ensure that our farm not only produces organic, high-quality food and eggs but also conserves the environment. By employing Cereal Fermenting(Energy for the chickens), Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae and Azolla farming systems, we will create a closed-loop system that provides natural Carbs and protein for our chickens and at the same time, produces organic fertilizer for our gardens.
A Vision for the Future: In addition to our chicken farm, we will develop a natural herb and organic fruit and vegetable garden, nourished by the rich manure from our chickens and waste from the black soldier flies. This garden will further enhance the health benefits of our farm while contributing to the local ecosystem.
We also have plans to gradually introduce agro-tourism, inviting global visitors to experience the beauty of our farm, and the organic local eggs and chicken meals wrapped up in the warmth of our community.
